Leo Crotty Sr., Founder 1922-1998
Leo Crotty Sr.
Captain Leo J. Crotty, Sr. spent much of his life as an innovator in marine/military mothballing, and industrial corrosion protection. As the founder of L&C Associates (the former name of Protec, Inc.), Leo saved millions for all branches of the United States Armed Forces by developing new methods of protecting idle or mothballed equipment. Among his achievements were protection systems for: NATO warehouses, ammunition bunkers, construction equipment in transit, missile tubes, military supplies pre-positioned on ships, containerized cargo, and gear cases for naval vessels. The methods he developed to prevent flash rust and corrosion during tank coating are now universally recognized and followed in projects around-the-world.

Before founding Protec, Inc., Leo spent 20 years as government marketing manager for Cargocaire Division of Munters, developing dehumidification lay-up processes for defense, industrial and commercial applications. Leo graduated from the US Merchant Marine Academy in 1943 and served in the Navy during World War II,
the Korean Conflict and during the Berlin Crisis.

Leo's vast knowledge and experience set the contemporary standards for our industry. His dedication to the development of new methodologies, his unremitting commitment to excellence, and his record of success in the field of corrosion prevention serve as the inspiration for Protec, Inc., today.
